Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, l’entreprise japonaise chargée d’assurer le lancement de la sonde émiratie « Al-Amal » (Espoir) pour orbiter autour de Mars a annoncé la réussite du lancement, ce dimanche soir à 23h58 heure de Paris, depuis le Japon.

Engin spatial non habité, Al-Amal devrait commencer à orbiter autour de Mars d’ici à février 2021, marquant le 50anniversaire de l’unification des sept principautés qui forment les Emirats arabes unis.

MHI Successfully Launches the Emirates Mars Mission, HOPE Spacecraft

The launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No.42 (H-IIA F42) which carries the Emirates Mars Mission’s (EMM) HOPE spacecraft developed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in the United Arab Emirates launched at 6:58:14 am [Japan Standard Time, JST] on Monday, July 20, 2020.

・ The launch vehicle trajectory was executed as planned and separation of the HOPE spacecraft was confirmed.
・ The H-IIA launch vehicle is one of the most reliable launch vehicles in the world, and with this 45th consecutive successful H-IIA/H-IIB launch, the vehicle now has an accumulative success rate of 98.0%.

Tanegashima Space Center, July 20, 2020 – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) successfully delivered the Emirates Mars Mission’s (EMM) HOPE spacecraft developed by the UAE Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) into orbit today via the H-IIA launch vehicle F42. The launch vehicle trajectory was executed as planned, and at about 57 minutes after liftoff, separation of the HOPE spacecraft was confirmed. 

HOPE will be the first probe to provide a complete picture of the Martian atmosphere and its layers when it reaches Mars in 2021 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE...
